Everyday Casual
There are levels to what constitutes casual clothing, from t-shirts and hoodies to more classic-minded designs with a little more sophistication. Whatever the level, there’s a way to look properly put-together on both dressed-down weekdays and weekend adventures. Denim and five-pocket pants with a hint of stretch are great foundations. So are versatile jackets and signature sweaters you’ll reach for time and again. Add in a few soft sport shirts and cotton polos you’re on your way to rounding out a wardrobe that feels and wears as great as it looks.

Casual apparel is probably the broadest, most diverse category in all of menswear. Casual for your own home, coffee runs or weekend errands is one side of it. Casual for a sporting event or a tailgate is its own thing. What’s often called “business casual” is entirely another. A casual round of golf? That’s a fairly established formula, though with plenty of room for interpretation and crossover. Resort or vacation attire? Depends on the season and the destination. Rather than thinking of it as a single category, casual dressing is a spectrum. And like all the ways we think about getting dressed, there’s nuance and context. Consider all the small capsules, the scenes and situations you’ll find yourself in, and tackle them one-by-one.
Most of our footwear, even loafers, can slot in on the casual side depending on what you’re wearing alongside them. That being said, you’ll be well served starting with our sneaker selection. On the most casual side, our slip-on knit sneakers like the Glide and Drift have been mainstays for years. The Camberfly has a similar position, with a little more athletic look and performance functionality. For a more polished look, explore options that lean into in suede and leather. Or opt for a well-crafted pair of boat shoes in warmer weather.
We’d like to think that’s our sweet spot as a brand, and the majority of what we offer sits in that space. Feeling great and looking put-together are not mutually exclusive. They’re part of the same conversation. Soft feel and comfortable wear are an essential part of our design DNA, whether we’re talking about our knit soft jackets or the Oasis sweatshirt. And even in something as casual as a Crown Comfort T-shirt, we’re giving it serious attention-to-detail so that it keeps a sharp look.
While there’s no magic formula for dressing more stylishly, there are two things that will always get you started on the right foot. First, when in doubt, look to layers. Aside from the warmest of days, adding a jacket like the Discovery, a sweater in a versatile weight like Excursionist Flex or a vest like the Essex is always a good lift. Learning to layer in a way that’s both balanced and practical is a great skill to have. Second, dial in the way your clothes fit. In an ideal world, everything will fit you perfectly right off the rack from the get-go. In reality, it’s important to get to know a good tailor. Well-fitting clothes are as important as the materials that make them.
